The stereoisomer D-phenylalanine (DPA) is usually produced by standard organic and natural synthesis, possibly as a single enantiomer or to be a part with the racemic combination. It does not engage in protein biosynthesis although it is present in proteins in smaller amounts - specially aged proteins and food proteins that have been processed.
